ZBB will start their road trip with a handful of dates before the fests, including Greenville, SC (5/10), Atlanta, GA (5/12), Columbia, MD (5/31) and Bangor, ME (6/2). They have only one festival date in May, but it’s a biggie: the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 4.

From there, it’s all festivals, all the time, starting with the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn., on June 7, and then the BamaJam (6/15), Country Stampede (6/22), Country Jam USA (6/23), and Dauphin’s Countryfest in Manitoba, Canada June 30.

They’ll continue to log some serious miles in July and August beginning with the famous Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI, July 5, and stopping at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming, the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota, the Peach Music Festival in PA, and ending the trek in Vermont at the Champlain Valley Fair on September 2.

Just like good music, Zac Brown enjoys good food, and as such started his own line of steak rubs and barbecue sauces under his Southern Ground company known as Southern Ground Grub. You can be sure to see him cooking up a storm at every festival stop, bringing his down-home creations to the masses, just as delicious as the music!

The Southern Ground festival runs from Oct. 21-23 at Riley Park in Charleston, S.C. Lead singer Zac Brown described the stage as extending to either side of the general admission with box seats above. Fans in the box section will be in for a treat as they’re served chef-prepared food throughout the day. The concession stands will also be upgraded.

“This is real wine and real food,” Brown said. “It’s not just what’s cheap. It’s not a $12 bag of nachos with some Cheez Whiz on them.”

For the first time in over a decade, Jack Daniel’s will have a presence at a music festival.

“What we liked about the Zac Brown Band in particular was they are someone who could play the Ryman one night and Bonnaroo or Coachella the next night,” said Jeff Arnett, Jack Daniel’s master distiller.

That was one of the hang-ups with the Zac Brown Band, according to an interview between them  and Pollstar.com, especially when frontman Zac Brown was coming up with crazy ideas like:

• Feed hundreds of fans club members at every show from a gargantuan custom-built tractor-trailer kitchen on wheels.

• Build and staff seven separate businesses that handle everything from publishing, film and music videos, and T-shirts – and why not throw in a machine shop for a planned line of custom knives?

• Start its own record label.

•  Retrofit a warehouse to hold it all.

Just over two years ago, the band wasn’t even known. But that has since changed led by the visionary Zac Brown. The band was so successful in 2010 that they walked away with the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and released their first album, which immediately shot to No. 1.

Ironically, the first round of performers also includes artists who are competing against the ZBB in various categories, including Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban.

Other performers for country’s biggest night include Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, and Alan Jackson.

This year’s CMA Awards ceremony will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 10.

ZBB fans also have several chances to see them perform live before the ceremony with Zac Brown Band tickets to their Nov. 4 show in Indianapolis, Nov. 5 in St. Louis or Nov. 7 in Kansas City, Mo.

The boys of ZBB claimed nods in several of the top slots, including the main prize, 2010 Entertainer of the Year! They were also nominated in the following categories: New Artist of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year for their collaboration with Kid Rock.

The competition is fierce in each of those categories, where ZBB will have to best the likes of Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, just to name a few.

Zac Brown also earned a nomination on his own as one of the songwriters of “Toes,” which received the nom for Song of the Year. Other writers on the song were Wyatt Durrette, John Driskell Hopkins and Shawn Mullins.

The CMA Awards are called “Country Music’s Biggest Night.” Don’t miss the show and all the winners when it airs live on Wednesday, November 10th, on ABC.

In addition to the free admission, the concert also aired on CMT.com, so fans worldwide could watch as Sonny Landreth, Kenny Chesney, Jesse Winchester and Allen Toussaint performed.

The benefit concert was created by Buffett, a Gulf Coast native, who told the AP that it’s ok to be mad at the oil spill.

“If you’re born and raised on the Gulf Coast and it’s kind of in you, and you don’t feel anger and rage initially over what’s going on down there, I think you’re a hypocrite,” he said. “That’s the way I felt. Now, what you do with that is a big question.”

Buffett is holding another benefit concert on July 11, though Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band can’t attend because of prior commitments.

The concert was initailly scheduled for July 2, when the Zac Brown Band will be playing in Fort Wayne, Ind. In his official website, Buffett said he was dissappointed to have to push the concert back, but had to because of the effects of then Hurricane Alex.

“Nobody hates this more than I do but I guess, as the song says, it’s hard to reason with hurricane season,” Jimmy said. “For those going anyway, thank you. My sister Lulu will take good care of you. For the rest of you, we will see you July 11th!”

The Zac Brown Band was performing that night for thousands of our soldiers as part of a USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour.  In a statement, frontman Zac Brown responds, “The war isn’t front page news anymore and a lot of folks forget that there are actually people over there, away from their families, serving out country.  They’ve been giving up months and months of their lives, some of them years, so we’re excited to get to entertain them.”

During the awards ceremony, fans were allowed to share the experience via video feed.  Brown says, “We want to show our support of the military and just remind everyone that it’s still real, and it’s still going on.”  This is the band’s first USO tour and while overseas, they will be filming the music video for the next single, Free.

The floating festival sets sail on Labor Day weekend. On Sept. 2 the ship departs from Tampa, Fla., and travels back and forth to Grand Cayman. While on board, The Zac Brown Band will put on the main stage show, with many more musicians being added daily.

When the music’s not playing there are still plenty of activities to do, such as lounge on the deck, swim in the pool, drink at one of the many bars, peruse the restaurants or just enjoy the view from your balcony.

So far, the confirmed bands for the Sailing Southern Ground festival are Michael Franti and Spearhead, Blackberry Smoke, Nic Cowan, Gaelic Storm, Sonia Leigh, Levi Lowrey, Oakhurst, Darrell Scott and The Wood Brothers.
